RESCOM was the project architect for a complete makeover of this estate home.
The existing residence was constructed as a reproduction farm house. Although the owners like
the charm of the farm house and wanted to preserve it, they also wanted a more functional layout
and all the modern amenities. An additional consideration was that the owners hosted a monthly
gathering with around 100 guests in attendance. To find out how we accomplished these goals,

To meet the requirements of the project, we recreated the entire flow of the house while at the
same time making all of the rooms larger and more functional. We created several subtle additions
to the existing structure in order to gain some valuable square footage. The main entry to the
house was moved to a more central location and made open to the second floor creating a loft effect
and providing a more stately first impression.

With the existing floorplan, the most frequently used entry to the house led directly to the kitchen. In
order to help delineate between the entry area and the kitchen, a new wing was created at the rear
of the house to provide space for a much needed mud room as well as an expanded and remodeled
gourmet kitchen. On the first level, we created a large formal living room with an expansive views
of the rolling fields and barns on the estate. The living room boasts a disappearing serving area
that is conveniently located for entertaining guests. The family room makes use of its original
fireplace, however a large entertainment center was added and designed to be inconspicuous so as
not to detract from the quaintness of the room.

On the second floor, the master bedroom was totally relocated to provide for a larger room with
flanking his and hers master bathrooms with walk-in wardrobes. This newly created master suite
is the very definition of luxury. Both master bathrooms and a rooftop walkout deck were all
designed to capture the magnificent views of the fields surrounding the house. A wood burning
fireplace completes the bedroom. Off the side of the master suite is access to a private office
built over the garage. With carefully designed casework, no space in the office was left
unaccounted for. Within the office there is also a fireplace and a private entertainment area.

The exterior detailing of the residence was entirely thought out and detailed to make all of the lines
crisp and clean. Great care was taken to ensure that the additions would flow naturally with the
existing structure and maintain the original character of the property. Included in the exterior
renovations was a complete reconstruction of the garage with the new structure several feet larger
than its predecessor. Finally, we took time to define eloquent details that subtly let visitors and
passersby know that this is no ordinary residence.
